Privacy policy

The calculator shows results without contact details. If you submit the installer request with permission checked, you authorize us to choose one installer and share your contact details, answers and estimate for an introduction and written review. There is no separate company-approval step. We do not distribute the request to a pool of installers. We may be paid for the introduction.

From the quiz. Your address or ZIP, your state, whether you own the home, your monthly bill band, roof shade, and roof age. If you request an installer match: your first name email address and phone number, with an optional last name.

From a bill upload, if you choose to upload one. Uploading is optional and the quiz works without it. When you do upload a photo or PDF, we send the image to an AI vision model to read a fixed set of fields: utility name, tariff or rate plan, price per kWh, this month’s kWh, trailing twelve-month kWh, amount due, the monthly usage graph if the bill prints one, and the service state. We keep those extracted fields. Anything else printed on the document — an account number, a meter number — is not part of what we extract or store.

Automatically. Standard server logs and analytics: IP address, user agent, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps. Our funnel events also use a random browser-session identifier to count calculator steps, quote reviews and introduction requests. We record the public landing page and a broad traffic category, such as search or referral, in private Vercel storage. These funnel events exclude query strings, full referrer URLs, your address, bill figures, file contents and contact details. We skip this event tracking when your browser sends Do Not Track.

You can enter quote details manually or select a proposal PDF or image. Proposal files are read locally in your browser using PDF text extraction or optical character recognition. Neither the original file nor its text is sent to our server or an AI provider for the quote check.

Extracted and edited quote figures remain in the current page until you leave or refresh. Checking a quote does not share anything with an installer. If you request an introduction, we retain your confirmed quote details, contact information, home address, permission text and timestamp in private Vercel Blob storage, with notifications and delivery copies through Resend when available. We share the confirmed details with the one installer selected for your introduction, not the original proposal. An optional electric bill attachment requires separate sharing permission and is retained with the request. You may request deletion using the contact information below.

A bill uploaded only to refine the calculator is read in memory and not retained by us as a file. The extracted usage and rate figures stay with your estimate.

If you separately attach a bill to an installer request, the actual file is sent to our team through Resend and retained in our email records with the request. This requires the bill-sharing checkbox. We share the file only with the specific installer we select for your authorized introduction. You may cover your account number before uploading.

What we do keep are the extracted figures — your utility, rate plan, rate, usage and the twelve-month history — attached to your estimate for 24 months, then deleted. We do not extract or keep your account number.

You can ask us to delete your record at any time by emailing privacy@killmyenergybill.com. We respond within 30 days. Deleting a record does not claw back a copy already sent to the installer selected for your requested introduction — that installer is then the controller of their own copy, under their own policy.

When you authorize an introduction through the form, we share with one selected installer: your name, email address, phone number, address or ZIP, the quiz answers listed above, and the estimate we generated.

Your bill data is shared only if you tick the box that says so. That checkbox is off by default and the estimate does not depend on it. For calculator uploads this means the extracted utility, rate and usage. If you attach the actual file to your request, that file can also be shared as part of your requested introduction.

We share with one installer per homeowner. We do not operate a lead auction, we do not pass your information to data brokers or lead aggregators, and we do not pass your details to a second installer if the first does not work out unless you ask us to. To be plain about it: that installer pays us for the introduction you requested. It is one company, it is one time, and it only happens if you say yes.

By submitting the form with the permission box checked, you authorize Kill My Energy Bill to select and introduce one installer serving your home, share the details described above, and request a written recommendation and price or illustration by email first. A phone number is required for the request, but a sales call is not. This form does not authorize automated marketing calls or texts. A phone conversation can be arranged if you later request one.

The exact consent language shown at the point of submission is the operative one, and we store the text you were shown, along with the submission timestamp and version, as the record of that consent.

To stop contact, reply to the introduction email, tell the installer, or email privacy@killmyenergybill.com. We honour opt-outs on our side; the installer is separately responsible for honouring theirs.

We use a short list of third parties to run the site. They process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Vercel hosts the site and serves every page, so it handles the standard server logs described above. Supabase is the database where your quiz answers, your estimate and the extracted bill figures are stored. Anthropic reads an uploaded bill image and returns the figures — the image is passed through, not stored by us. Telegram delivers submitted contact forms, quiz answers, estimates, quote reviews and permitted bill attachments to our team’s private chat. Resend sends the transactional email that sends your request and optional bill attachment to our team. Your checked form permission authorizes one installer introduction.

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, and to opt out of sale or sharing. Because an installer pays us for an introduction you request, some state laws may treat that disclosure as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and you can opt out of it by not submitting an introduction request or by asking us to stop sharing before the introduction is made. To exercise any right, email privacy@killmyenergybill.com. We respond within 30 days, we do not charge for requests, and we will not treat you differently for making one.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. The site is for US homeowners only.

If this policy changes materially we will update the effective date at the top and, if you have submitted the form, notify you at the email address you gave us.
